Hurray for me...I'm getting old.
Since I couldn't make it back that weekend to celebrate with my family (or to celebrate my step mom's birthday, which is the day before mine) I hopped into my aging Saturn last Friday and drove back to Chicago to visit. The drive to and fro was uneventful and rather dull (Indiana is the longest, flattest, most boring state ever), and my sanity was saved by listening to one of the audio books I picked up from the library.
I was about 90 miles outside of Chicago when a light bulb went off above my head.
CRAP! I forgot my camera!!!
That's right folks - I have no photos from this past weekend. No photos of going to Chicago and eating a delicious dinner and dessert at a friend of the family's house, nor any of my parents or just general lollygagging. Not to mention the gorgeous skyline.
So, instead of pretty pictures to look at, I present: Laura's random musings. I can tell you're just thrilled.
- I still miss Lake Michigan...a lot. It was rather nice to actually be able to drink water straight from the tap without gagging.
- Three frozen Lou Malnati's pizzas (the best-of-the-best Chicago-style deep dish pizza) should last me about two weeks.
- Eight Kolackys from Lutz's Bakery will last two days - one bite made memories of my childhood come flooding back in a brief, shining instant. Yum.
- My step-grandma apparently likes Cappuccinos. Keep in mind she is a professed tea drinker (she's from Sri Lanka and swears by the stuff), so you can imagine how surprised I was to hear that she liked something coffee-based. Unfortunately the one I bought her at Starbucks wasn't sweet enough for her - nothing some good old Sugar in the Raw couldn't fix!
- My dad has a kick-ass scooter he rolls around in. Gotta admire his resolve to stay mobile - recent foot surgery be damned!
- My step mom really liked the photo I gave her for her birthday. So, if this whole photography thing fails flat on my face, at least I have one fan of my pictures! Wait, no...two...can't forget about my pops.
....okay, I can't resist. I have to post a photo (because I'm weird like that) so here's a first look at Spring!
